WWDC 2025: Apple’s Biggest iOS, macOS, and AI Shakeup in Years

Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference returns in June, and all eyes are on what the company might unveil this year.

WWDC is traditionally a software-centric event, but has become a major stage for Apple’s biggest platform shifts in recent years.

With artificial intelligence now central to its strategy, and some Mac models overdue for updates, WWDC 2025 could be more than just another OS upgrade cycle.

Event Basics

WWDC 2025 kicks off on Monday, June 9, at 10 a.m. PT. The keynote will be streamed live on Apple.com, the Apple TV app, and YouTube.

Developers selected via lottery will attend in person at Apple Park. You can expect a packed week of developer sessions, but the biggest announcements will be made during Monday’s keynote.

Here’s what to expect:

  • iOS 19 and iPadOS 19
  • macOS 16
  • watchOS 12
  • visionOS 3
  • tvOS 19
  • Apple Intelligence
  • Mac Studio

Software: The Main Event

Software is the core of WWDC, and 2025 speculation suggests a significant design evolution for iOS 19. It’s likely that iPadOS 19 and macOS 16 will also feature a refreshed look.

iOS 19

The star of the show. iOS 19 is expected to push further into AI territory, with smarter systemwide search, a revamped Siri, and more proactive suggestions baked into Messages, Mail, and Safari.

Apple could also tweak the interface, possibly refining the Control Center and lock screen widgets. The first developer beta should be available right after the keynote.

iPadOS 19

Many iOS 19 features will carry over to iPad, but Apple often tailors multitasking and Apple Pencil support separately.

iPadOS 19 could see improvements to Stage Manager and expanded support for external displays, helping iPads better function as laptop replacements.

macOS 16

Rumors point to “macOS Skyline” or “macOS Rincon” as potential names. Expect deeper integration with AI tools for Spotlight, Mail, and Safari, plus quality-of-life improvements for multitasking and window management. Apple may expand Continuity features across iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

watchOS 12

New health metrics are likely, especially around sleep and recovery. AI-driven suggestions could help users better plan workouts and daily activities. Siri on Apple Watch may finally become more context-aware.

visionOS 3

As the Vision Pro continues to evolve, Apple is expected to unveil visionOS 3 with developer tools for immersive 3D apps, improvements to spatial navigation, and better multitasking. A focus on productivity and content consumption is likely.

tvOS 19 and HomePod Software

These usually get minor updates, but smarter content recommendations and tighter HomeKit integration could be in the cards. Apple might also introduce new home automation scenes powered by on-device AI.

Apple Intelligence: The AI Push

AI will likely take center stage. Apple may brand its systemwide AI capabilities as “Apple Intelligence,” building on groundwork from iOS 18.

Siri is expected to get a major overhaul, using a mix of on-device and cloud-based models. Look for new writing tools, auto-summarization, smart replies, and app-specific assistants across Apple devices.

Why WWDC 2025 Matters

WWDC 2025 is shaping up to be a major milestone in Apple’s shift toward intelligent computing.

Software will be the focus, but the bigger story is how AI will redefine how we interact with every Apple product. Whether or not hardware shows up, the keynote will help define Apple’s next chapter.
